Handcuff Restraints

I have my handcuffs - You are secure!
Whenever we hear about "handcuffs" we experience two basic instinctive thoughts. One is the dreaded feeling that a cop is coming to arrest us and the other - a more relieving symptom - is the presence of that "friendly" neighborhood policeperson with a handcuff jingling on the waist belt providing the much needed security in the present day context. Not everyone lives in the countryside or suburban areas where crime and burglary are less frequent! Therefore it is invariably more comfortable to see or hear the jingling sound of a handcuff from a nearby precinct or a patrolling team of cops. This is as far as the safety assurance of a citizen is concerned! The police force has other secure feelings with a good pair of handcuffs.

A Handcuff is a Handcuff!
The practice of using handcuffs (whatever shape or size they may be) is an age old concept for restraining anti-social elements and bringing them to justice. We have come a long way since the introduction of the modern handcuffs of the mid nineteenth century period and today it is as much of an art as well as a science to manufacture effective products. The most significant factor governing development of handcuffs is that the design is based on real life experiences of law enforcing agencies all around the world! Only a few people are aware of the intricacies of how handcuffs are made and the models available for specific uses. For most a handcuff is only a handcuff!

To Catch A Thief!
No one ever wishes to be handcuffed. Oh maybe a few really do - I guess! It is today a society norm all over the globe that a pair of handcuffs does an effective job of law enforcement and curtails the crime rate. We have also come pretty far from the days of those uncomfortable handcuffs that used to cause pain and injury. The humane factor in criminology resulted in evolving effective yet comfortable handcuffs for the police force and today the public cannot really attribute handcuff brutality to "catch a thief"! The manufacturers across the nation and especially ASP and Peerless contribute to the goodwill of both the police force and the public - though that may not be the case with a criminal at large.

Know Your Handcuffs!
Handcuffs are available in different models, shapes, and sizes that cater to any eventuality. Chain link, waist chains, hinged, rigid, aluminum, and high security are just a few models made from high quality metal components like steel, nickel, chrome metal etc. Additional information is available at web sites such as Miles Tactical on the Internet. Apart from the comfort zone stipulations for handcuffs it is most important to design the closing and opening mechanism of the restraining product. A lot of research continues in this matter so that loopholes and escapes become minimized.

We would love the day when people (if not the law enforcing police) start keeping a good pair of handcuffs at home for restraining mischief mongers rather than the more dangerous and mostly fatal habit of owning a gun! Remember the saying then: "Have handcuffs - Will Travel to the police station" - and be safe!
